Purchases through the Amazon links on this page provide our family with a small remuneration, however every single item I recommend is one I personally own, use, love & have purchased from Amazon. None of the other links bring any income for our site but are here because I use them and recommend the company.

Training Resources and Equipment

Collar: There are lots and lots of adorable collars at DayDogDesigns that beat the big-box supply stores.

Leash: The very best training leash in the world is The Buddy System. I don't think I'd ever want to go without one again. This leash will make house training your puppy a snap.

I have the medium and it works well for me and can adjust to go out to a fairly large size as well.

You will want to have a training pouch handy that is easy to use (no fumbling with zippers or pull cords) and actually stays closed without treats spilling everywhere when you move.

The bags by Doggone Good are the favorite of trainers and handlers everywhere. They will last forever and won't aggravate you like many other versions out there will (and when they just annoy you then you'll wind up not using them) this is a bag you'll want to use. This one comes in red or black.

This Doggone Good bag comes in four colors and has a few different features. Both are awesome bags.

Harness: If you decide you want a harness then look for wide bands that won't pull on your cockapoo's curls.

Clicker: if you have decided to clicker train your dog then you will want something comfortable in your hand with a not-so-loud it scares your dog kind of noise. Buy more than one because you'll misplace them!

Box Clicker: If you want a good clicker for outside or in a big building during training class you can get a loud box clicker from any pet store.

The "Treat and Train" is a remote treat dispensing machine. This thing is a great way to help you teach your dog to potty outside by himself.

Little puppies want you next to them all the time but you want to train them to potty without you right there. This allows you to reward the dog for going potty outside (click the remote and it dispenses a treat for your dog) without you being there. It is just a fun little tool and it works for lots of other training applications, too!

This gentle correction collar is definitely a good pick. I do not love these kinds of collars but it genuinely is the only way to stop certain kinds of problem barking.

A dog that is barking because he is anxious, under-exercised or upset should never use a correction collar.

More about correction collars HERE. It is an important thing to read carefully about before applying any electronic collar training method.

Training Books: There are two books I love the most out of the many, many I have read (while on a quest to find the ones best for new puppy owners).

Professional Training Facilities: The First Dog Training Club of Northern NJ:  (201) 722-0001  A not-for-profit run by experts and boasting prices that are tough to beat. If you want to train or begin competing and are in the North Jersey area, this is the place to go.
